11 ~ A fantastic year for gymnastics
Thanks must go to the JEP for their recognition of Rachelle Flambard in the Sports Review 2013 and of Joseph Carroll in "Al Thomas's Year".
8 ~ 'Christmas Candy'
Following the Christmas Party was the "Christmas Candy" gumnastics show which saw the girls and boys perform a number of routines both group and individual. The turn out and atmosphere was fantastic and the girls and boys put on a great show!

2013 Endeavour Awards
The end of the year saw 3 talented young gymnasts presented with 'Endeavour' awards after the "Christmas Candy" gymnastics show.

7 ~ Christmas Party Fun!
On Saturday 7th December, a Christmas Party was held for all of the general gymnasts and Little Monkeys. It was a very busy morning but a fantastic, fun party. Thanks to everyone who came along and joined in the celebrations!

24 ~ Gym-tastic Fort Regent Open Day!
On Sunday 24th November, Regent Gymnastics, FRSG and Little Monkeys held free taster sessions for all ages during the Fort Regent Open Day.
The gym was a hive of activity with sessions for both young and old being backed by some great displays by FRSG and the Regent Gym squad girls. Fort Regent's mascot Humphrey also made an appearance to try out his moves!
Coach Paul Bain was popular with both children and adults as he guided them through the adventures of the Inflatable Air Track and there was a great turn out for the very popular Little Monkeys taster sessions.
Regent Gymnastics want to thank everyone who came along and supported the Open Day. Coaches, parents and gymnasts, thanks for a great day.

9-10 ~ Chalk Bowl Challenge Brief
Meaghan Walshe, Yakira Michel, Milly Crowder, Katie A'Court, Holly Le Feuvre, Olivia Dunlop, Jenna Pontin and Rachelle Flambard all travelled to Colchester to take part in the annual Chalk Bowl Challenge held on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th November. All the girls did incredibly well bringing home a handful of medals and trophies. Full results to be posted soon.

31 ~ Holiday Camp fun!
Once again, the half-term holiday camp was a big hit!
27 ~ FRSG bring home a haul of medals from the UKG Competition:
FRSG brought home a whopping 13 medals and 2 overall trophies from just 6 individuals competing at the UK Gymnastics Competition held at Milton Keynes on 27th October.

The FRSG boys especially, really shone at the competition. The skill, strength and all-round precision of Jonty Butler, Joseph Carroll, Owen Price and Wilson Ibbet meant that they came home with 11 medals and 2 overall age-group trophies between the 4 of them!
Not to be out done, the FRSG girls also brought home medals. Gracie and Elli Carroll both won the overall Bronze in their respective age groups.

Jonty Butler (9), Joseph Carroll (10) and Owen Price (12) all competed at Level 8 in their respective age groups, whilst Wilson Ibbet (12) competed at Level 7 (all pictured in order below).
Jonty took Gold for his combined Floor and Vault score as well as Silver on P-Bars and Bronze on High Bar. Joseph won his age-group Overall Trophy as well as 3 Gold Apparatus Medals. Owen won his age-group Overall Trophy, Gold on combine Floor and Vault and Silver on P-Bars and High Bar. Wilson won Silver for P-Bars and High Bar and placed a creditable 4th place in the combined Floor and Vault in which he gained the second highest score on Vault.

Southern Region Levels
Rachelle Flambard competed in the Southern Region Levels competition at the Rivermead Leisure Centre in Reading. Competing in the Challenge Espoir level she finished in a creditable 5th place overall and only 0.50 points away from the bronze medal on vault. Well done Rachelle!
8 ~ Hampshire In Age Levels & FIG Challenge

On 8th September, 12 year-old Rachelle Flambard and 8 year-old Meaghan Walshe took place in the Hampshire FIG Challenge and Hampshire In-Age Levels respectively.
In the Espoir Challenge, Rachelle had great all round competition. She took the opportunity to perform a new floor routine landing 4 complex twisting tumbles linked together with elegant dance to gain a score of 10.30. Her very high and dynamic piked tsukahara vault scored an impressive 12.15. She won the overall trophy and four gold apparatus medals.
In her first Hampshire Levels competition, Meaghan Walshe performed well throughout with a expressive floor routine to 'puppet on a string' scoring 11.15 and placing her in overall 12th place on this apparatus out of 20 gymnasts competing at Level 5.
Well done to both girls!

26 ~ Regent make the cut for a second year in a row!

On the evening of Friday 26th, it was announced that for the second year running, Regent Gymnastics have won £500 in the Jersey Evening Post (JEP) and Ogier Kit4Clubs competition! A fantastic achievement that could not have been met without the amazing effort of all the club members, family and friends snipping tokens published in the JEP.
Once again over 80 sports and leisure clubs entered the competition in Jersey but only six shared the £10,000 prize fund which was offered in 2 categories - club's with under 50 members and clubs with over 50 members. Regent came 3rd in the 'clubs with over 50 members' category and were delighted to receive the award!
Regent Gymnastics wants to thank all of their members families and friends for the effort they put into this competition. The prize money will be put towards purchasing new kit for the club.

21 ~ Rachelle represents the Southern Region in National Grades

Just one day after competing in Colchester, Rachelle Flambard travelled to Birmingham to represent the Southern Region in the British Grade Finals held on Sunday 21st April.
Rachelle made up one third of the Southern Region Team that competed National Grade 5. The team placed 7th overall out of 11 teams from around Great Britain.
Rachelle competed well on all pieces, with her highest score of 11.90 being awarded for her Vault placing her 15th out of 33 gymnasts on this piece. Overall Rachelle placed 22nd as an individual with a total score of 38.90, an outstanding effort for her first outing in such a high-level event.

19 ~ Regent show thier skills in Colchester!
On Friday 19h April, 12 Regent gymnasts travelled over to the UK to take part in the "Dave Gymnastics Academy International Invitation Competition", held in Colchester over 3 days.
On the Friday, the girls enjoyed a rare pre-competition training session familiarising themselves with the local equipment.
Saturday, saw Rachelle Flambard, Eleanor Le Maistre Smith, Julia Russ, Meg Ann Ruderham, Matilda Le Boutillier, Jessica Dunning and Samantha Neale competing at various level and age groups. On Sunday it was the turn of Meaghan Walshe, Yakira Michel, Charlotte Neale, Sarah Shah and Milly Crowder.
All of the gymnasts competed incredibly well. Full results will follow shortly. Well done to all that took part for a fantastic weekend!
13 ~ Another successful UK Gymnastcis event!
On Saturday 13th April, over 100 boys and girls competed in the annual UK Gymnastics Competition held in Jersey in the Queens Hall, Fort Regent.
Gymnasts from clubs all around the UK took part including Burnham, Chiltern, Lynx, Booker, Mega, Sleaford and the hosts Fort Regent School of Gymnastics.
The competition was a massive success and ended with a fun disco for all involved.
All of the coaches and gymnasts from Fort Regent School of Gymnastics would like to thank UK Gymnastics for organising the competition and of course all of the clubs that took part. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the next event!

23 ~ End of Term Easter Rainbow Competition
At the end of the term, over 100 gymnasts from Little Monkeys and Fort Regent School of Gymnastics took part in the end of term Easter Rainbow Competitions.
The gymnasts performed carefully compiled routines that demonstrated their flexibility, balance and strength skills on the Floor, Beam, and Bars. On Vault they performed various jumps off the spring board and vaulting table showing good coordination and speed.
All gymnasts received participation medals and certificates and the winners of each age group/level won medals and ribbons.
It was a great way to end the term allowing the gymnasts to show off the skills they have learned to friends and family. An enjoyable event for all involved - well done gymnasts!

17 ~ 100% passes at Hampshire County Grades
On Sunday 17th March, 8 Regent Gymnasts competed in the Hampshire County Grades Competiton with 100% passes and some excellent individual results. The competition took place over two days at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth.
On the first day Regent's 10-year-old Katie A’Court competed at Grade 12. She showed her strength on the Vault and Bars scoring over 11 on each apparatus. She finished with an overall Southern Region qualifying score of 41.35 to pass her grade.
On the second day, Regent’s juniors took part in Grades 13 and 14 which had a record number of entries taking part from various clubs in Hampshire.
Charlotte Neale, Rhea Fletcher and Aliyal Buesnel competed against 57 gymnasts at Grade 13. Charlotte had an excellent score of 11.70 on the vault, finishing her competition with a total score of 51.95. Rhea’s beautifully executed floor scored her 11.00 placing her in 5th place on this apparatus. She also scored 11.55 for her excellent control in range and conditioning. She finished with a total score of 50.70. Just one place behind Rhea, Aliyah again performed well in range and conditioning for score 11.30. She finished with an overall score of 49.75 to pass her grade.
Competing in their first Hampshire County Competition at Grade 14 were Josie Carey, Meaghan Walshe, Yakira Michel and Thalia Fletcher. All four girls perfomred well with Josie finishing with an overall score of 54.45 to finish in 34th place from a field of 65 gymnasts. Her best performance was on the beam where she showed great poise and control to score 11.60. Meaghan finished with an overall score of 51.20 with beautiful control in range and conditioning scoring her 10.50 for that piece. Yakira & Thalia also had a good competition allowing them to comfortably pass their grades.
Head coach Julia said although it was a busy weekend all of the gymnasts performed well and were a credit to the Club. Many thanks go to all of the coaches as without their support and hard work, the gymnasts wouldn’t have gained these excellent results.
15 ~ Little Monkeys raises £120 for Red Nose Day!

On Friday 15th March, Little Monkeys held a Red Nose Day fun event from 09:30am to 11:30am which included fancy dress for children, cake sales and generally having fun on the gym equipment.
The event raised a total of £120 for for Comic Relief!

03 ~ Passes for all at the Southern Region National Grades

On Sunday 3rd March at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth, Regent Gymnasts Rachelle Flambard (12), Holly Le Feuvre (11) and Jenna Pontin (11) all competed in the Southern Region National Grades competition and passed their National Grades with flying colours.
At National Grade 5 which is the highest level Rachelle put in an exceptional performance to finish in second place wining the overall silver medal just 0.25 points away from 1st place. Starting on bars Rachelle put in a clean performance to score 10.75 winning her the bronze medal, she then went onto nail a superb Beam routine showing tremendous height and control in all her elements with a secure straight back somersault dismount to win her first apparatus gold medal of the competition with a score of 10.55. On floor, another excellent performance demonstrating excellent tumbling and dance elements to place her first on this apparatus to win her second gold medal with a score of 10.55. Her powerful pike tsukahara on the vault won her the silver medal with a score of 12.10 and finishing on the Range and Conditioning with a silver medal. Rachelle will now go forward to represent the Southern Region Team at the National Finals in Birmingham on the 21st April.

Against a field of 16 gymnasts in National Grade 8 Holly and Jenna also put in great performances to finish in overall 7th and 9th places respectively. Their first piece was the Range and Conditioning which tests their strength and flexibility and they had to score over 9.00 points to pass their grade. They both performed their routines with poise and control with Jenna scoring 10.40 to finish in overall 8th place and Holly scoring 10.10 to place her 9th. They both performed consistently throughout on the other apparatus with Jenna’s best performance on the beam where she performed a beautiful executed routine to score 11.20. Holly excelled on the Bars with a great performance to gain her a score of 11.60. Both girls had solid performances on the Vault with scores of 11.90 (6th place) Holly and 11.80 (8th place) Jenna.
Coach Julia Falle was extremely pleased with their performances and a great start to 2013. She said that the recent “Alpha Factor Jewel of the South” competition held in Ipswich 2 weeks ago which all three gymnasts competed in with some individual personal bests. Rachelle took a 3rd place in the R &C and finished 5th overall and Holly’s was on vault when she score 12.50 for 3rd place. This experience helped the gymnasts immensely and was a great warm up competition prior to taking their National Grades.
