6-10 ~ Summer Camp Memories...
20 girls took part in this years ever-popular Summer Camp which took place every morning from the 6th to the 10th August.
At the camp, the girls took part in daily conditioning and flexibility games and exercises as well as practising their routines. The girls made use of the air track and specially set-up training aids to help them improve their tumbling and to learn back flics and somersaults . This enabled Milly Crowder to achieve a round-off, back flic, backward somersault tumble on the floor and Rhiannon Le Maistre a round-off, back flic, full twist on the floor. Each daily session was closed with a handstand or balance competition.
All of the participants thoroughly enjoyed themselves (gymnasts and coaches alike) with each gymnast being awarded a certificate for their efforts and achievements during the camp - something to remind them of the fun they had.

9 ~ A great day at the British Espoir Challenge
|
Rachelle Flambard had a great day on Saturday 9th June when she competed in the British Gymnastics Women's Espoir Challenge.
Espoir is the youngest age ranking (12-13) within the British Championships and is a precursor to Junior (14-15) and Senior (16+) competitions at national and international levels. At just 11, Rachelle entered this competition to enable her the opportunity to compete at a national event that is judged on the full FIG code.
The competition, held in Guildford, saw 53 young gymnasts from around the UK compete. Rachelle performed extremely well, finishing in 22nd place overall. Out of the 9 gymnasts that competed from the Southern Region (SR), Rachelle was the third highest scorer (the highest scoring SR gymnast placed 16th overall).
Vault was Rachelle's strongest piece, on which she performed a high, dynamic piked yurchenko to score12.10. Her solid Bar and Beam performances secured her scores of 8.05 and 10.10 respectively and her fast tumbling and elegant dance on the floor earned her a score of 10.70.
This competition was a great experience for gymnast and coach (Julia Falle) alike and both are looking forward to perfecting and improving Rachelle's current routines over the next year in preparation for the 2013 Espoir Challenge.
