A Brief History
Regent Gym Club and Little Monkeys Gymnastics are family run clubs that offer gymnastics classes to children of all ages, from pre-school through to late teens. Regent Gym Club was formed by Arthur Falle in 1981. Today, Arthur is helped by his daughters Julia (Regent Gym Club Head Coach) and Melanie (Little Monkeys Gymnastics Head Coach) in running the clubs which now have over 300 island wide members and operate six days a week from their base at Fort Regent Leisure Centre, St Helier. In addition, Arthur's daughter Stefanie (now living in the UK) has qualified as a Woman’s Artistic Regional Judge and regularly judges within the Southern Region.
The clubs follow a well-established development programme for the sport of Gymnastics. Girls and boys can be enrolled from a walking age into the pre-school programme Little Monkeys Gymnastics. This programme introduces the children to the sport in a fun but educational environment and prepares them for progression to the senior programme at Regent Gym Club when they reach the age of 5 to 6 years. This senior programme caters for both recreational and general gymnastics, developing gymnasts to the best of their abilities. Finally there is an elite programme for skilled and committed gymnasts. The elite programme is available at Regent Gym Club and caters purely for competitive gymnastics. Elite gymnasts must be dedicated to the sport but in return for their dedication and hard work are provided with the opportunity to train and compete in various locations across the UK and Europe.
The clubs have had much success over the years, producing many gymnasts of a high standard who have represented Jersey and won medals at English County, Regional and National competitions, Island Games, Jeux Des Isles Games and various competitions in France, Germany, Malta and even Canada.
